Jeremiah Stanley is an award-winning commercial & editorial photographer based in Tampa, FL.
He recently completed a series of sports portraits made of athletes from local, Tampa-area high schools. He photographed every major sport including football, baseball, basketball, track and field, and swimming. He also photographed some not so major sports like lacrosse and weightlifting.
Jeremiah’s goal in the portrait series was to show the beauty of sports by highlighting the motion of the athlete within their particular sport.
To achieve this, he used a photographic technique called stereoscopic photography. The idea behind this technique is to photograph something or someone in motion by overlaying the images on top of themselves. This can be achieved photographically in a few different ways. Here Jeremiah chose to photograph the athletes on a white, seamless background to really make their uniforms pop.
Jeremiah Stanley and his photography team, photographed these athletes in many parts of the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg Florida area. We started off in Citrus Park to photograph a runner, then made our way over to the Westchase neighborhood of Tampa. After that we moved downtown Tampa to Channelside to photograph a weightlifter. Then we drove into Tampa Heights and later over to Clearwater for a football player.
Tampa advertising photography is truly a tough niche to crack, but once you begin building a commercial photography portfolio with some very strong images, it’s a career that is sustainable in the long run. The main thing with advertising photography is to really highlight the product well. Sometimes the product is an actual commercial item and sometimes it can just be an individual feeling or emotion. Whatever it is though, it’s your job as the Tampa Commercial Photographer to make sure you capture it!
